There were two inquiries into the Titanic disaster. The first one was held in
the United States. It found that Captain Smith was going too fast and blamed the
British Board of Trade for letting the Titanic leave without enough lifeboats.
The British claimed the right to hold their own investigation since the Titanic
was a British ship. It was conducted by The Board of Trade. They found that
Captain Lord of The California was to blame for not coming to The Titanic’s
rescue.
